1. Full Course (1 ½ days and 2 nights)         $425/couple

 This course begins in the evening with a wine and cheese welcome, optional hot tub relaxation general course content outline, and an observation exercise. A gourmet breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. on the next morning with instruction beginning at 9:00.  A lunch break is provided at 12:30, and instruction continues until 5:30, with a mid-afternoon break. The course includes a number of practical exercises with an opportunity to relate the information directly to current plans of the participants. Dinner arrangements are the responsibility of the course participants, and  menus from local restaurants are available on-site to help you select a dining location.

Another gourmet breakfast is served on the second morning followed by a session on the Art of Being a Good Host, Personal Qualities needed by operators, and Keeping Current in the B&B Industry.  The balance of the morning session involves two  practical exercises including setting the breakfast table and making up a guest room in which the course participants are evaluated.  The final exercise is a quiz to review the course content, and after successful completion of both the practical exercises and quiz, the participants are awarded a graduation certificate.

The main advantages of the Full Course are: (1) a more relaxed pace with a greater opportunity to enjoy the ambiance of the B&B   (2) More time to dialogue and address your specific concerns and questions  (3) several opportunities for practical hands-on exercises including Internet access, financial software practice, guest room make-up, table setting etc.   (4) Opportunity to sample and evaluate two different breakfast styles    (5) Two nights accommodation

2. Abridged “Short” Course (1 day and 1 night)        $325/couple

Option (a) In this format the course begins in the evening, with dessert and coffee and get acquainted session, a discussion of expectations, and an observation exercise.  The main course content follows breakfast the next day, and runs until 6:00 p.m. with two mid session breaks, and lunch being provided. Although all of the main ideas are still covered, in the interest of time, some of the practical exercises are left out, breaks are shorter and the pace is somewhat more intense and less relaxed than the Full Course. Also, because the contact time has been reduced there is less opportunity to dialogue and address specific concerns and questions.

Option (b) It is possible to teach the short course in reverse format starting at 9:00 in the  morning (no breakfast served) and running to 5:30 p.m. with lunch included.  Dinner off-site is the responsibility of the course participants, and an after dinner hot tub is optional.  Overnight accommodation is provided and the course continues the following morning after a gourmet breakfast. In this format the course ends at noon.

The main differences between the Short Course and the Full Course are: (1) one less night of accommodation and subsequent fee reduction (2) less opportunity for interaction and dialogue, (3) faster pace and less relaxed   (4) less time for practical hands-on exercises (5) only one breakfast format is demonstrated.

3. Seminar Format (1 day only)              $225/couple

This is basically a “crash” day-only course, beginning with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. with lunch being provided at mid-day. It is a “just the facts” presentation with little opportunity for interactive dialogue and no opportunity for the evaluative practical sessions or final review quiz. It also eliminates the opportunity to participate in the B&B experience as a guest and to evaluate and discuss the hosting techniques experienced. The full course manual is received but requires some “after seminar” study.
